Sucess!!!!!!!!! The eggs have hatched and and now wriggling, almost all of them hatched.. hehe..And hubby and I have just put them in the 40 gallon, although the female attacked him in the process. some are still in the 55 gal. with the parents, and they are gathering them up and burying them (maybe 60),, im so happy.. now , how long will it be before i need to feed them ?

Well, congratulations! And also, if almost all of them hatched that is quite an accomplishment. Do you know your water parameters?(for most of us quite a few don't hatch)As long as they still have the "egg-sac" on them you don't need to feed them. After that, when they swim you can feed them live baby brine shrimp, or maybe crushed flake food. The parents may also make enough mess and tear apart food so the fry can feed.
Also, please tell us which is the MALE and which is the FEMALE. If I didn't know they were a pair I might have said both were males from just that picture. In my tank usually the MALE takes over and hovers over the eggs protecting them. My guess is the one on the eggs is your FEMAle. Please let me know which one it really is. Also, if you have more pictures would be great to have them. I would like to build a database of pictures of OSCARS of "KNOWN SEX". ....call it the "Oscar Sex" project...

yes, the one with the cut on the head is the female, i mentioned earlier that she had a fight with the heater, lol, and i do have more pics i will send , some of the earlier spawn, . also I took a few more pictures tonight, the fry that are still in with the parent(50-60) they have gathered them up and burried them completely now, the other fry(to many to guess) are all burrowing themeselves in to the rocks(in another tank), im trying to get pics of them also .

Great, thanks for posting those pics and naming the files nicely. My first quick guess was wrong on that one. That female looks a lot like some of the males I've had, looks great, nice bright color. If there's any more pics of the male, like the 4female.jpg one would be great....don't have a good side view of the male.

congrats, congrats. i'm very jealous. you're making me want to try again to get a pair. i tried once by getting 6 juvis, but 3 got eaten by my larger oscar that hade eaten them before i relised i needed to remove them. oh, well, maybe in the future.

Did anybody else notice that this all has happened under a full moon?
