I got my aquaclear 110 a few months back for $28 from petsmart online on sale. Says on the box in the manual and on hagens web site that there filters come with a lifetime guarantee. I guess it may depend on where you buy one?

The ones avaliable locally have a yellow I guess you call it a ribbon design on the front that says 2 year warranty.

Did a search online and it seems a majority of online retailers only offer the 2 year warranty but I found some that offer the lifetime guarantee.

They sell "replacement parts" for EVERY part in an aquaclear .


Companies and the way they word things what good is a guarantee on something that doesn't exist

I bet they tricked 100's of people like that i saw it but i didnt feel like posting about it.

Personally I have never had an aquaclear go bad on me so the lifetime guarantee doesnt really mean to much to me, some of them are around ten years old, after that long I think they've paid for themself. I've had the best luck with aquaclear filters so thats what I stick with. I would have to say most things with a "lifetime guarantee" aren't much more than words printed on paper. The majority of companys have things worded so its useless, almost every guarantee I've ever read says "will be repaired or replaced at the manufacturer's discretion" to me that says it all, worthless.

Any way I would listen to Stillearnin. The bio-wheel is superior to all other bio-filter designs. The emperors are construsted from a vacuformed plastic which will not crack or break if dropped. It is basicly the same stuff that plastic trash cans are made from. The motor and pump are more efficient, less electricity to flow a given amount of water. I now have 13 Emperor 400's and 3 Emperor 280's I also have a couple penguin.s (much cheaper design).I do not even use the aquaclears I own any more. The Aquaclear is a great filter. It is made from an injection molded plastic which is prone to cracking or breakage if dropped. I has a less efficient motor so more wattage is required to flow the same amount of water. also (Warranties are all useless). I also use HOT Magnum as well as Magnum 350.

warranty means they dont really fix they would rather replace come on guy get a clue here

If you really like your AC500"s and don't want buy new filter systems with Bio-Wheels you can modify your AC500 with Bio-Wheels and a spraybar.

i seen one of those on another forum. They are cool

Here's another shot of it after I'd tweaked and adjusted it better.
I positioned the wheelin a optimal spot, seated it in bearings and siliconed the bearings in place. I run the spraybars thru a 50-165gph powerhead (DIY pre-filter on powerhead) with a in-line UV sterelizer.
Its been running sweetly for quite awhile now with no fuss and the wheel turns smoothly.
