The best. cichlids aquarium set up

Hello guy's. Did anyone out there know how to set up the best aquarium configuration for my cichlids tanks. My tank only used some dead coral reefs stone. It's all empty without any decoration. Some advice can really help. Can I used under gravel filter for my tanks? How about the type of stones that I need to put if I use under gravel filter. Live plants or fake plants. I'm using a 3 feet tanks. Any members out there can give me some suggestions. Thanks.

Did you end up using undergravel filter? I really don't like them too much personally...I think I prefer to use clean bare bottom tank for really big fish but tiny fish i think might be ok with gravel or sand. Live or fake plants depends on the fish, small fish i think live plants are ok, gets difficult with big fish that might like to tear them apart...
