Creaky Stand

I have a 55 gallon that I got through this guy that was working at a fish store that I go to and he said he could get us a good deal on a 55 gallon for around $150. It was about 15 years old at the time and it used to be in a high school lobby and they were upgrading to a larger tank. Anywho, the stand has been bowing in at the center of the back and front panels, which i think are made of plexiboard or something. It has been creaking and I don't want a tidal wave going over my bedroom, plus fish flopping all over the place, not good!!

Yeah, that would not be good! You could use the blocks idea you were talking about for the 75. Sometimes you can pick up a used metal stand if you check the classifieds. I'm not sure how much the new ones run.
