Hi,
I've just put together an old world cichlid tank with 2 yellow labs and 4 aceis. I have been reading all I can find on these mbunas. I have a question about the substrate - I've read they need aragonite and so researched a product "African Cichlid Gravel" which contains aragonite, calcium, magnesium, carbonate. It's suppose to re-create the African Rift Lake environment and maintains the high pH African Cichlids need. Since the source for aragonite and calcium comes from mollusk shell would I be able to simulate this type of gravel by crunching mollusk shells into my existing gravel substrait?
