I had the old 55 gal I was up til two days ago using for 20 years. I noticed last week the silicon seals inside the tank were loose nearly to the edge of the inside of the tank. I quickly utilized my wife Debbie's Walmart discount to purchase a new 55 gallon and moved my oscar and his/her hardware supports into the new tank. I assume at some point in the near future the old tank would have just exploded which would have not made me happy.
I may reseal the old tank with new silicon and sell it, or maybe keep it for a spare.
I wanted to step up with this opportunity and get a 75 for the oscar but I just couldn't find one with the stand, lid, etc I could afford. I have plenty of filtration and have successfully kept oscars in a 55 before but I know they'd appreciate more room. I just hope this little oscar I have now doesn't grow into a tank buster, my last one was kind of smallish for an adult oscar and that helped.
