Found the aquatop cf 400 for $17 on amazon yester day and the aquatop 300w heater for $3.50 are these such crap amazon was giving them away? Or do you think they messed u . i bought 5 of the filters and two heaters . Did i get a good deal or waste my money.

U might have. I dont' trust any kind of off brand heater/filter than what I know works. U can not trust some and sometimes ALL heaters as in if U get a lot of electrical surges, that can make the heater turn up to hot, killing your fish.
IF YOUR home room is 76F, then really U do not need one.. I dont' have one on my top tanks as the rooms are 75-76F and the tank stays the same.. My bottom tank has a heater due to it is 3" from the floor.. Rememer this: Cool air sinks, hot air rises.
As this is an week old post, HOW do they seem to work out?? Let us know how U like or NOT like them.. loluck!
